SAFETY EQUIPMENT THAT PROTECTS YOUR HEARING
 

The purpose of noise-cancelling headphones is to reduce the harmful effects caused by noise: temporary hearing loss, permanent deafness, tinnitus, stress, etc. Hearing protection belongs to the large range of PPE (personal protective equipment). According to workplace safety legislation, wearing ear protection:

• is not compulsory for an exposure level below 80 dB
• is not compulsory for an exposure level varying between 80 dB and 85 dB, but the equipment must be made available by the employer
• is compulsory for an exposure level higher than 85 dB
• depends on the frequency of the noise (more or less serious or acute), the duration of exposure, the distance from the source of the sound, and an individual’s sensitivity.

To choose the right earmuff model, start by identifying the type of noise you are exposed to, the time during which you will have to wear it and the overall weakening index of the device. (expressed in dB). Note that some of our headsets:

• have better insulation against low frequencies

• manage to filter voices and sound warnings so that they remain perceptible to the ear

• are made of non-conductive materials and are therefore better suited for high voltage areas, etc.
