WÜRTH SILICONE SEALANT: QUALITY SEALANTS TO MAKE YOUR JOINTS
In the family of sealants (silicone, polyurethane, MS Polymer or even acrylic), silicone sealants are undoubtedly one of the most commonly used. Belonging to the category of elastomers (which retains at least 70% of their initial size), Würth silicone sealants are designed to meet the requirements of professionals. As such, we are committed to offering products intended to:
sustainably withstand mechanical stresses and deformation of materials (induced by variations in temperature and humidity).
resist external agents (water, air, UV, heat, fires, gas, chemicals, biological agents, etc.).
ensure bonding performance thanks to its adhesion performance.
Silicone sealants are generally one-component sealants of synthetic origin. They are distinguished primarily by their elasticity, their resistance to bad weather and therefore their longevity. They react by polymerizing a crosslinking agent, as well as by absorbing moisture from the air.
In construction and renovation work, the secure connection of silicone gaskets is essential. To make it easy for you to carry out all your waterproofing work in bathrooms or even kitchens, Würth offers you a complete range of silicone sealants suitable for different types of surfaces.
Our products, when correctly implemented, are guaranteed in resistance and performance of a joint over time. Please refer to the product sheets and PDFs for more details on standards and labels.
AN OPTIMAL RESULT FOR ALL YOUR GASKETS
It is possible to apply a silicone sealant around a bathtub, a shower, a sink, a washbasin or even a worktop. Depending on the surface to be renovated, it is necessary to choose the right type of silicone sealant. Silicone acetate provides a waterproof seal on enamel, stoneware, tiles and glass.
This is also the case with silicone formulated with an aqueous base, but the latter also has many additional advantages: it does not stick to the fingers, it cleans up with water and can be corrected during installation. Finally, neutral silicone is suitable for all types of surfaces including synthetic materials.
Some examples of the different fields of application of silicone sealants include: peripheral joints between carpentry and masonry, expansion joints between concrete elements as well as many other common building supports, elements subject to direct water runoff, connection tiles / walls, built-in furniture for kitchens and bathrooms, cold rooms; the fields of application are so diverse and varied that Würth Silicone Sealants have been designed to meet certain specific uses.
COMPLETE SILICONE SEALANTS, EASY TO USE
The seals are vulnerable to mould and deterioration. To maintain them, it is necessary to change the aged seal. The trick to doing a clean, thorough job is to use adhesive tape to mark off the application area. To facilitate installation, Würth offers you different application methods: silicone cartridges and bags, gun for silicone sealant, straighteners, etc.
Two sizes of sealants are available: cartridges and bags. The bags have the advantage of representing much less waste, and therefore storage, which allows you to make significant savings while considering the environment. Silicone pouches also contain more products and are less expensive to recycle than the traditional cartridge format.
After applying the silicone sealant, you can smooth it out to achieve a uniform result. To smooth the silicone sealant for the joint and choose the thickness and shape of the joint, Würth facilitates each stage of your waterproofing work by also giving you access to many tips on these product sheets and offers you associated products: straighteners, smoothing spatula, smoothing agents...
